Dear Members

Migration from old system to new system and data glitches identified.

Minerals Councils South Africa has migrated to a new administrative system that manages and control the uploading, updating, and publishing of all examination results conducted by the council.
The first time that examination results was being used to upload to the new system was for the results of the May 2022 examinations. Unfortunately, we picked up a system “glitch/error” on Friday, 29th July, for the results that were uploaded. All the results that were uploaded on the 29th July were thus incorrect.
After detecting this “glitch/error” on the evening of 29th July 2022 corrective measures were taken and correct results were uploaded before end of day, 30 July 2022.

The Minerals Council must apologize for these inconveniences / errors that had arisen in switching over to our new CoMCert system. We are confident that such incidence will not take place in the future.

There has been a lot of interest with regard to the SCO practical training. Due to the nature of training and some practical constraints, only a limited amount of candidates will be selected to attend the above mentioned training. Selected candidates will receive an E-mail confirmation during this week.

Dear SANIRE member, When I write the President’s corner, I generally reflect on where I am at the time of writing, and this time I have reached my mid-term. With only a year left in my term as president, it has been an incredible pleasant journey for me, and I am extremely proud of SANIRE’s accomplishments. During my recent business trip to Australia, it has enabled me to connect with the universities.

On 7 July 2022 the SANIRE Free-Vaal branch meeting was held at Unicorn Bowling club in Welkom. The meeting was well attended and positive feedback was received from members after the meeting. The presentations were followed by the raffle draw, a braai and bowls. We look forward to seeing all members at the next meeting which will be announced per e-mail and the SANIRE Facebook page.
