AT KLOOFENDAL NATURE RESERVE
Join SANIRE Gauteng and Steve Spottiswoode for a walk in Kloofer dal Nature Reserve to explore the geology of the reserve, how the intersection of two major geological faults (Rietfontein and Witpoortjie faults) created geological complexity that brought gold, ultimately leading to the establishment of Johannesburg.
Participants will be taken back to the 1880s and the characters who found gold here changed the history of South Africa. participants will also go into the Gold Mine at Kloofendal. Date: Saturday the 3rd of December 2022 Time: 8:30am for 9:00am (until 12pm), walking tour to start at 9:00am Venue: Kloofendal Nature Reserve, Veronica St, Kloofendal, Roodepoort, 1709 Put on your walking shoes, bring a hat and sunscreen. Family are welcome at the event. Food and drinks will be provided.
