Gladwin Maphanga passed away at the age of 40 years and was married with four kids and excelled academically. He worked within the Hard Rock Industry and spent the last few years of his career within the Coal Industry. Gladwin  worked during his Geology and Rock Engineering career at South32, Nkomati Nickel Mine, Foskor Mining Division, Optimum Coal Holdings, Exxaro Coal, Anglo Platinum, University of the Witwatersrand and the Council for Geosciences.
