WITS Student Receives SANIRE Award

Congratulations to Ms. Onkutlwile Motlogelwa for receiving the SANIRE Student Award in acknowledgement of obtaining the highest marks in the course Strata Control.   

The prize-giving ceremony took place on 3 May 2013 at the Great Hall of the Witwatersrand University.

TreesNeedy Free State communities are 152 trees richer thanks to Sanire and Food and Trees for Africa. Read the details of this shady operation here.

Beneficiaries in Welkom who had applied to Food and Trees for Africa (FTFA) were delighted to receive a generous donation from Sanire.

Thirty-one of the indigenous trees Sanire donated were planted during a special ceremony at Moremaphofu Primary School in Thabong, Welkom on 26 September 2012.

Balanced MineSAFE conference attracted great interest

8 191Leadership, skills and engagement were the key themes during the MineSAFE 2012 Conference, held at Emperors Palace in early August. Jeane Matsobane, a Strata Control Officer from Anglo Platinum, received an award at the associated Industry Award Day and mentioned how the Rock Engineering Certificate Course has impacted her career. The annual MineSAFE Conference was a major success, drawing more than 600 delegates over the two-day Technical Conference and about 870 guests for the Industry Award Day.

Shaun MurphyFrom his birth in Springs in 1957 to the present, mines and mining towns have provided the backdrop to Shaun Murphy's adventures and achievements. He shares some of these for you to read here.

It is RaSiM time again. The RaSiM8 organising committee would like to give the following information through:

During the  first week in September 2013, the Eighth International Symposium on Rockbursts and Seismicity in Mines (RaSiM8) will be held on a four-deck river cruise ship, travelling from Saint-Petersburg to Moscow. The lectures and presentations will be held in an on-board conference hall and will be followed by on-shore cultural activities: an excursion to an open-air museum of wooden architectures in Kizhi, a visit to the monastery of St. Cyril on the White Lake in Goritzy, a walking city tour to Uglich and a picnic in Mandrogy.
